Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)
EFT, also known as tapping, is a gentle self-soothing technique that combines light fingertip tapping on acupressure points with mindful awareness of thoughts, emotions or body sensations.
As you tap, EFT can gently support the movement of emotional energy that may feel blocked, stuck or held in the body.
It can help calm the nervous system, soften emotional intensity and create space around feelings that may have been held in the body for a long time.
During a session, we gently explore what feels present for you. This may be stress, anxiety, self-doubt, emotional overwhelm, limiting beliefs or unresolved experiences. As we tap together on points on the face, upper body and hands, you may begin to notice shifts in how you feel, think or respond.
EFT is not about forcing emotions to change. It is about meeting yourself with honesty, compassion and safety, allowing your body and nervous system to soften at their own pace.
EFT may support you if you are feeling:
-
anxious, overwhelmed or emotionally heavy
-
stuck in repeating patterns or limiting beliefs
-
disconnected from your body or inner calm
-
caught in overthinking or self-criticism
-
sensitive, reactive or easily triggered
-
ready to gently process emotions in a safe and supportive way
Whether you are working through something specific or simply seeking more emotional ease, EFT offers a compassionate space to reconnect with yourself.
In-person sessions are available from a calm, welcoming space
at The Health and Wellness Hub in Cardiff. Online sessions and home visits are also available where suitable.

How Unhealed Experiences Shape Us
Sometimes, the experiences that affect us most are not only the dramatic or obvious ones.
They can also come from long periods of stress, feeling unseen or unsupported, having to suppress emotions, or learning to stay strong when we really needed care.
Over time, these experiences can shape the way we feel in our bodies, relate to others, and respond to life.
We may find ourselves feeling anxious, guarded, overwhelmed, emotionally numb, overly responsible for others, or disconnected from our own needs and boundaries.
These patterns are not signs that something is wrong with you. They are often protective responses - ways your system learned to cope, adapt and stay safe.
EFT offers a gentle way to begin meeting these patterns with compassion. Through tapping, we can create space for emotions, beliefs and body sensations to be acknowledged without needing to force, analyse or relive everything.
Healing does not have to mean pushing yourself to revisit painful experiences before you feel ready.
In a Soul Tuning EFT session, we move gently, at your pace, with space to pause, adjust or stop whenever needed.
How Unhealed Experiences Can Show Up
Unhealed experiences can show up in many different ways and may affect how we feel, think, relate to others and move through daily life.
Often, these responses continue long after the original experience or period of stress has passed. You may notice emotional reactions that feel bigger than the situation.
You may notice:
-
feeling anxious, tense or easily overwhelmed
-
overthinking or struggling to switch off
-
experiencing harsh self-criticism or feeling “not good enough”
-
people-pleasing or difficulty setting boundaries
-
feeling emotionally numb, shut down or disconnected
-
reacting strongly to certain situations or relationships
-
carrying tension in the body
-
repeating patterns in relationships or life choices
-
feeling tired, burnt out or stuck in survival mode
These responses are not weaknesses. They are often signs that your nervous system has been working hard to protect you.
Through EFT, we can gently bring awareness to these patterns and begin to soften the emotional charge around them, at a pace that feels safe and manageable.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is EFT therapy?
EFT can support emotional wellbeing, but it isn’t a substitute for medical or mental health care.
Is EFT safe if I feel anxious?
We proceed slowly and can pause anytime. If anything feels too much, we adjust or stop.
Can EFT bring up strong emotions?
Sometimes. Tapping can gently surface feelings that have been held in the body. We move slowly, and you’re always in charge. If anything feels too much, we pause, adjust, or stop.
Is EFT suitable if I’m neurodivergent or highly sensitive?
Yes. Sessions are shaped with care and attunement. We can adjust pace, language, and structure to support your nervous system and unique way of processing.
Do I need to say things out loud while tapping?
Not always. We can use silent tapping, gentle phrases, or imagery, whatever feels most comfortable. You’re welcome to speak, whisper, or stay quiet.
Can EFT be combined with other healing approaches?
Yes. EFT blends beautifully with energy work, sound healing, or other modalities. We’ll shape the session intuitively based on what feels most supportive.
What if tapping feels silly?
That’s common at first. We go gently; most people find the rhythm calming after a few rounds.
Can I do EFT between sessions?
Yes. I’ll show you a short sequence you can use at home when you’d like support.
Session Rhythm & Aftercare
How many sessions might I need?
Every person is different. Some feel shifts after one session; others find that a short series, such as three, helps changes settle in gently. You’re welcome to go at your own pace, and we can revisit what feels supportive as we go.
Do I need to be in crisis to benefit from EFT?
Not at all. EFT can be used during difficult times, but it can also be a gentle way to check in with yourself, release tension before it builds, and stay connected to your inner calm.
Can EFT help during grief, change, or emotional overwhelm?
Yes. EFT can be a supportive companion during times of transition, loss, or emotional intensity. It offers space to acknowledge what you’re feeling without needing to explain, analyse or fix everything.
What might I feel after a session?
Everyone’s experience is unique. You may feel calmer, lighter, clearer, more grounded or pleasantly tired. Sometimes emotions continue to move afterwards, so it can be helpful to give yourself some gentle space.
Is there anything I should or shouldn’t do afterward?
It’s helpful to give yourself space. You might want to rest, drink water, journal, or spend time in nature. Avoid alcohol, caffeine, or intense stimulation if possible as your system may be adjusting, and gentle is best.
Can I reach out between sessions?
Yes. If anything feels unclear or you'd like support, you're welcome to get in touch.
